Hillsboro Aviation Invests in New Facility

 Poised for Growth in 2011
Sunday, March 06, 2011 - Hillsboro Aviation

With the increased optimism of 2011 and beyond, Hillsboro Aviation recently invested in its future with the addition of a four acre property near its current Hillsboro, Oregon headquarters. The property includes a new office and warehouse facility which enhances the company’s current location by providing extra office, shop and storage space. With the addition of this facility, Hillsboro Aviation will expand its current operations and focus more on sales and service related opportunities. Hillsboro Aviation is also finalizing an agreement to lease an additional 10 acres of land to support its growth needs.

As Hillsboro Aviation celebrates its 31st year in business, this investment in a new facility enables the company to explore new opportunities and support growth in its three core  business groups, flight training, charter and sales and service. Each of these segments has experienced its own success over the past year and is prepared for growth in 2011. The positive trends in each of these areas provided Hillsboro Aviation the confidence to invest in this new facility.

Flight Training
In the area of flight training, Hillsboro Aviation has established new international contacts and was awarded a contract to train the first large group of Chinese ab initio helicopter pilots in the United States.

Hillsboro Aviation is also expanding its airplane flight training with a new partial motion simulator and a fleet of Cessna 162s. The simulator features a three-axis motion platform, wrap-around visuals, a fully enclosed cockpit and reconfigurable construction. Also, Hillsboro Aviation has over 20 Cessna 162s on order; five of those will join the company’s fleet of more than 70 aircraft and five flight training devices.

This past year, Hillsboro Aviation secured full-program financing for its flight training courses. Loan amounts for up to the full program cost are available with a Wells Fargo Collegiate Loan, making flight training more accessible to potential students.

Sales & Service
On the sales and service side, Hillsboro Aviation is excited about offering customers the latest in avionics products, including the Garmin G500H, TrueView EVS and Cobham HeliSAS. Visit Hillsboro Aviation’s Heli-Expo booth #1350 to learn more about these products and special show pricing. Also, qualified customers will be able to register for a TrueView demo flight during the show.

Hillsboro Aviation’s expansion of its parts department includes the hiring of a new division manager and forecasted growth of additional sales staff dedicated to assisting customers with all their parts and hardware needs. This spring, Hillsboro Aviation will launch an online store to provide parts, avionics, pilot supplies and services to customers domestically and internationally.

Charter Services
In 2010, Hillsboro Aviation expanded its charter operations outside the U.S. by providing support for aerial geophysical surveys with one of the company’s Bell 407 helicopters. The charter department also performed contracted search and rescue work this winter and provided life-saving support to stranded mountaineers.

“While I recognize that the economy and industry are not out of the woods yet. I am very optimistic about the future and the opportunities it will bring. Our new facility will allow us to continue the growth and stability Hillsboro Aviation has come to be known by,” said Max Lyons, Hillsboro Aviation’s president and CEO.

Please visit Hillsboro Aviation during Heli-Expo at booth #1350. Representatives from the flight school, helicopter sales, charter, maintenance, avionics and parts departments will be available.
